Lead Installer / Art Handler

Description

Allison & Ross Fine Art Services is looking for an experienced Lead Installer / Art Handler.

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of art handling and installation experience from art handling organizations, museums and/or galleries. Responsibilities will include acting as technical lead on projects that will include installation, transportation, packing & crating, and collections management. Candidate will be familiar with packing techniques and have working knowledge of archival materials. The ideal candidate will have a good eye for art placement and feel confident in commercial and residential settings. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, is able to work well in a team environment, and is highly organized.

Qualifications

• Management skills including training, scheduling, quality control, and meeting deadlines
• Experience with materials used in arts, fabrication and construction, metals, woods, fabrics, glues, and associated techniques
• Experience in installation using various methods standard to industry (security mount, standard, rail systems, cleats, etc.)
• Experience in rigging and large-scale installation projects
• Experience in soft packing, crate construction and archival handling and storage of artworks
• Familiarity with basic carpentry and fabrication
• Manage shop hardware and equipment inventory
• Manage all installation related paperwork to insure complete and accurate records
• Ability to anticipate complications and troubleshoot challenges onsite
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols to maintain safety of artwork and co-workers
• Must be willing and capable to work a flexible schedule

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent, college degree related to art preferred
• Competency in MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel
• Ability to lift 60 pounds comfortably
• Ability to safely and confidently drive a 24’ box truck
